Sri Lanka Lawyers' Cricket Team is leaving today for the 4th Lawyers' World Cup 2013 held in Delhi
The Sri Lanka Lawyers’ Cricket team will represent Sri Lanka in the 4th Lawyers’ Cricket World Cup to be held in Delhi from the 12th to the 22nd of October 2013. The Sri Lankan team is scheduled to leave the island on the 11th of October.
The previous world cups were held in Hyderabad, India in 2007, Cambridge, England in 2009, and Barbados in 2011. The national Lawyers’ Cricket teams of India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Pakistan, England and West Indies will be participating in the World Cup in Delhi which is expected to be one of the greatest ever cricketing events in the world of legal professionals and judges and it is anticipated that the tournament will be highly competitive and keenly contested.
The Sri Lanka Lawyers’ Cricket team which emerged Runners-up in the Third Lawyers’ Cricket World Cup held in Barbados in 2011 is captained by Asela Patabendi, who is playing in his Fourth World Cup. Manesh Wevita, who is also playing in his Fourth World Cup is the Vice Captain of the team. This team is currently playing in the Division 3 Cricket tournament organized by the Colombo District Cricket Association in 2013 under the aegis of Sri Lanka Cricket and has qualified for the Semi Finals which is to be played in early November. This team comprises mainly of private practitioners with representation from the State Sector as well as corporate Sector.

Sri Lankan Team arrives Hyderabad
Sri Lankan Lawyers' Cricket team arrived to hyderabad yesterday (27/12/2007) around 8.00 p.m.
There was a grand welcome at the Hyderabad Airport. Many of the officials of the Indian bar were at the stadium.

Sri Lankan's will make a change
For the first time in history, a lawyers’ cricket world cup is been organized by the Lawyers’ Association of India to be held in Hyderabad from 30th December 2007 to 07th January 2008.Teams from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Kenya would take part in this tournament which will be worked off on league basis at leading cricket venues including the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The matches will be played as one dayers where all the respective teams are expected to play with each other with the top two teams going into the finals attended by the President of the International Cricket Council.The Bar Association of Sri Lanka is represented by a strong team comprising of practicing lawyers who have excelled in cricket in different levels including college and clubs. The team is captained by Lasantha Mudalige, former Captain of Holy Cross College, Kalutara and University of Colombo. His deputy will be Theja Silva, a former Anandian cricketer. Mr. Sureshchandra, a leading lawyer and a former cricketer turned commentator is the manager of the team.The team comprises of; Lasantha Mudalige (Captain), Theja Silva (Vice Captain), Piyal Munasinghe, Malika Gunasekera, Binara Gunasekera, Kaushalya Nawaratne, Asela Patabendi, Manesh Wevita, Suseela Sapuvida, Ayendra Wickremasekera, Kamran Aziz, Nalin Weerakoon, Sumudu Sandaruwan, Mahesh Kotuwella, Ranjan Ranathunga, Sanath Karunaratne, Sarath Suriyarachchi, Yushan Tharanga, Prasad Sirimanna and Dixon Gunawardana.
